Jordan's Bakery
Industrial Origin Meets Modern Elegance
Originally constructed in the early 20th century, the Jordan’s Bakery building at 601 SE 5th Street is a cornerstone of Topeka’s industrial past. Once home to the Jordan Baking Company, the structure served as a hub of local commerce and craftsmanship, producing bread and baked goods for the region for decades. The building's original brickwork and robust form reflect a bygone era of utility and durability—a legacy that deserved to be preserved and revitalized. Spanning more than 21,000 square feet across three levels, the reimagined space now offers modern functionality layered over timeless architecture. The first floor features approximately 9,500 square feet of open-plan offices, private suites, and collaborative lounges. The second floor adds another 6,000 square feet of light-filled space with soaring ceilings, ideal for events or creative workspaces. The finished basement includes over 6,000 square feet of climate-controlled storage—perfect for tech infrastructure or archival use. Every detail of the renovation was designed to honor the building’s industrial roots while introducing a sleek, modern aesthetic. Exposed brick walls, black steel framing, and polished concrete floors blend seamlessly with upgraded lighting, ADA-compliant restrooms, and premium HVAC systems. The result is an “industrial chic” atmosphere—sophisticated yet raw, professional yet full of character. This bold transformation turns a historical landmark into a contemporary canvas for innovation, business, and community engagement.
